The intention in teaching Amanae is to help the student enter into a deep connection with Self, and to transform shadows, blocks, traumas, and negative thinking into light and spirit-guided action. This is not only a wonderful personal goal in itself, it is absolutely necessary to clear as much of the blocks in our own bodies in order to effectively work with clients, to hold the space neutrally for the client to face themselves.

To support this process, all trainings resemble Amanae workshops, with plenty of work on the tables.

Introductory Amanae Course (Opening the heart)

Taught over three days, this class gives people the opportunity to learn Amanae while experiencing an Amanae workshop setting.

Opening the heart is the first and most important part of any Amanae session. It is an area that is complete by itself, and can be easily done with your family and friends in a chair, couch, or massage table. It can also be integrated into an existing therapeutic practice.

During the class there will be plenty of practice and time on the table, in addition to some other tools to help you integrate the work and hold a clear 'space.' This is also a great opportunity to deepen in your own process. Giving Amanae treatments helps clarify issues and move energy for both the practitioner and the receiver. The energy around the work is powerful, and this class will help you to integrate the energy and learn to work within it.

The heart class is a prerequisite for the Amanae School of Europe. This course can be organized anywhere with as few as four students.

The School of Amanae-Europe Training Modules

Since 2008 we have offered in‑depth experiential work with the Amanae approach. We no longer run a continuous certification program. Instead we now present occasional, stand‑alone training modules, each focused on a specific part of the body and the emotional patterns commonly held there.

Overview

Each module is a self‑contained learning and practice experience. Modules combine hands‑on bodywork, somatic inquiry, and practical tools so participants can both receive and give Amanae‑informed work. Offerings rotate throughout the year and vary in length and format depending on the topic.

Structure and Content

  • Focused bodywork practice — in‑depth exploration of the Amanae doorways for a few anatomical regions per module. All students spend equal time receiving and practicing the work, with focus on personal release and transformation throughout the day.

  • Emotional mapping — guided processes to identify feelings, memories, and habitual patterns associated with the worked areas.

  • Technique refinement — individual feedback from teachers to deepen skills and sensitivity.

  • Integration tools — breath, movement, self‑care practices, and short home routines to support ongoing change.

  • Reflection and peer practice — group processing, Q&A, and supervised practice to consolidate learning.

Modules are 3-6 day intensives depending on the subject and learning goals.

Example Module Topics

  • Spinal column from sacrum to neck — fear, responsibility, breathing issues, patterns and trauma entrenched since childhood.

  • Hips and legs — Sexual trauma, power issues, grounding, standing in the world.

  • Throat and Expression — Voice, truth, creative expression.

  • Shoulders and arms — Receiving, anger.

New topics are added periodically; each offering is unique and may not be repeated immediately.

Who This Is For

  • Practitioners who want to deepen somatic and relational skills in focused areas of the body.

  • Individuals seeking embodied emotional release and practical tools for self‑care.

  • Therapists and bodyworkers looking to expand their repertoire with experiential, body‑centered approaches.

Modules are accessible to people with prior somatic experience as well as committed beginners; The Opening the Heart course is a prerequisite.
